Harrison Memorial Hospital CEO Dr. Kathy Tussey Named to KHA Board

Dr. Kathy Tussey, DNP, RN, chief executive officer of Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, has been named to the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Board of Trustees. Her appointment was announced during the board’s August meeting.

Dr. Tussey has almost 30 years of health care experience and has served in multiple leadership roles at Harrison Memorial Hospital since joining the organization in 2022. She joined HMH as chief operating officer and assumed the additional role of chief nursing officer later that year. She was named chief executive officer in June 2024.

Dr. Tussey began her career as a staff and charge nurse at Baptist Health Lexington before advancing into nursing and administrative leadership. Throughout her career, her responsibilities have included facility design and development, clinical service lines, patient experience, emergency and ambulance services, strategic planning, budgeting and quality. Since joining HMH, Dr. Tussey has led numerous initiatives, including facility improvements, advancements in clinical quality, nursing leadership development and the acquisition of Harrison County EMS.

A native of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Dr. Tussey earned her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Midway College and her Master of Nursing in Administration from Eastern Kentucky University. In 2023, she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Eastern Kentucky University.

As a member of the KHA Board of Trustees, Dr. Tussey will help guide the association’s policies, priorities and efforts to support hospitals and health systems across the Commonwealth.

Dr. Tussey will serve as a representative of KHA’s Bluegrass District alongside three other district representatives. The district encompasses hospitals throughout northeastern Kentucky. KHA’s Board of Trustees includes 22 hospital and health system leaders representing members across the state.

KHA was established in 1929 and represents 128 hospitals, related health care organizations and integrated health care systems dedicated to sustaining and improving the health of Kentuckians.
