At Harrison Memorial Hospital, we believe healing doesn’t stop at discharge. That’s why the HMH Foundation is proud to launch Eat Well, Heal Well, a new initiative providing every patient discharged from our Obstetrics Department with a free tote filled with fresh produce and helpful resources.
Good nutrition is essential for recovery and long-term health—especially for new mothers. Research shows that maternal nutrition directly impacts birth outcomes, postpartum recovery, and infant development. Yet, in Central Kentucky, nearly 15% of households with children experience food insecurity, making access to healthy food a serious challenge.
Each Eat Well, Heal Well tote is designed to meet that need and includes:
Fresh produce from Central Kentucky farms (when available)
- Recipe cards and cooking class information;
- Details on local farmers markets and CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs;
- Wellness tips tailored for new mothers and families;
- Information on local public support services, including WIC and SNAP.
This program is made possible through local partnerships and the generous support of our community. By working together, we are ensuring that every new family leaves HMH not only with medical support, but with the tools and nourishment they need to thrive. Together, we are planting the seeds for a healthier tomorrow—one tote at a time.
