HMH awards DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses
Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) is proud to recognize Deborah Duffy, registered nurse in the HMH Medical/Surgical Department, as the hospital’s second DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses winner. Deborah was honored for the exceptional compassion, skill, and dedication she demonstrates each day in caring for patients and their families.
The DAISY Award is a national recognition program that celebrates nurses who go above and beyond in providing extraordinary, compassionate care. Nurses are nominated by patients and families whose lives have been positively impacted by their care. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System and was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from complications of an autoimmune disease. The award honors the nurses who provided remarkable care and kindness during his treatment.
HMH also extends congratulations to the additional nurses who were nominated for this award. Each nomination reflects a powerful story of compassionate care and highlights the meaningful difference nurses make every day.
Nominees recognized were Cheyenne Adams, Andrea Brewer, Paige Barnes, Katie Furnish, Lindsey Jenkins, Allie Morrison, Amy Smiser, Chelsea Rawlings, Shavonna VanWinkle and Madison Waits.
The HMH Nursing Excellence Committee sponsors and promotes the award.
DAISY Award nominations remain open year-round, with recognition awarded quarterly. Patients, families, visitors, and staff are encouraged to submit a nomination for a nurse who goes above and beyond at www.daisyfoundation.org/about-daisy-award.
Harrison Memorial Hospital thanks all of its nurses for their dedication and for the extraordinary care they provide to the community each day.
