Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Advanced Care for Critical Conditions

Harrison Memorial Hospital’s ICU provides specialized care for patients facing serious or life-threatening conditions that require continuous monitoring and medical intervention. Staffed by experienced critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, and hospitalist physicians, our ICU is equipped with advanced monitoring and life-support systems.

We care for patients experiencing:

  • Respiratory distress or failure
  • Severe infections or sepsis
  • Cardiac events or arrhythmias
  • Stroke or neurological emergencies

Each patient in the ICU benefits from close observation, coordinated care, and around-the-clock medical supervision.

Hospitalist Program

Focused Inpatient Physician Care

To ensure continuity and quality of care during hospitalization, HMH partners with Sound Physicians to provide a dedicated Hospitalist Program. A hospitalist is a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant specially trained to manage the care of hospitalized adult patients.

Hospitalists are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and:

  • Provide direct care to adult inpatients during their hospital stay
  • Monitor patients closely and respond to changes in condition
  • Coordinate care with specialists, nurses, and ancillary staff
  • Communicate with patients and families about care plans
  • Arrange follow-up care after discharge

The HMH Hospitalist Program is led by Dr. James “Joey” Calder, a board-certified physician in internal medicine and pediatrics. Dr. John Pidakala also serves as a hospitalist with Sound Physicians and is dedicated to providing compassionate, efficient inpatient care.
