Harrison Memorial Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Nuclear Medicine Services following a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Nuclear medicine is a specialized area of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and evaluate a variety of conditions, including many types of cancer, heart disease, and other abnormalities within the body. Unlike traditional imaging, nuclear medicine helps determine how organs, tissues, and bones are functioning, allowing for more precise diagnosis.
Harrison Memorial Hospital’s nuclear medicine services have been accredited since 2008 and are re-accredited every three years, demonstrating a continued commitment to excellence in imaging and patient care.
The ACR Gold Seal of Accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities that meet rigorous ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards following a comprehensive peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. This evaluation includes assessment of image quality, personnel qualifications, equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs. Findings are reviewed by the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which provides a detailed report to support ongoing performance improvement.
Founded in 1924, the American College of Radiology is a professional medical society dedicated to advancing radiological care and serving patients through excellence in imaging and radiation oncology. The organization supports more than 37,000 radiology professionals nationwide.
“The attainment of ACR accreditation in nuclear medicine services is a testament to the outstanding dedication of our staff and the essential role we play in serving our community with the highest standards,” said Nicholas Wiley, Chief Operating Officer of Harrison Memorial Hospital. “I extend my heartfelt commendation to our team for their commitment to achieving this accreditation while consistently providing excellent patient care.”
