Coumadin Clinic

Patients prescribed Coumadin (warfarin) can receive coordinated care through our Coumadin Clinic. Pharmacists monitor INR levels and adjust dosages as needed, while registered dietitians help optimize medication effectiveness through personalized dietary planning.

ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation

HMH is accreditated as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation based on a rigorous onsite evaluation of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack. Hospitals that have earned ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation have proven exceptional competency in treating patients with heart attack symptoms and have primary PCI available 24/7 every day of the year. As required to meet the criteria of the accreditation designation, they have streamlined their systems from admission to evaluation to diagnosis and treatment all the way through to appropriate post-discharge care and recommendations and assistance in patient lifestyle changes.

Meet Our Providers

Matthew Shotwell, M.D.
Dr. Matthew Shotwell is an interventional cardiologist specializing in cardiac catheterization, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed residency and a cardiovascular medicine fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, and internal medicine.

Yazan Daaboul, M.D.
Dr. Yaz Daaboul is a cardiologist specializing in advanced cardiac imaging and diagnostics. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Lebanese American University and completed a residency and dual fellowships—clinical cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging—at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Ashley Black, A.P.R.N.
Ashley Black is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who provides comprehensive cardiovascular care in both the clinic and catheterization lab. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007 and her Master of Science in Nursing in 2012, both from the University of Louisville. She joined HMH Cardiology Services in 2019 and assists with cardiac testing, diagnostics, and follow-up management.

Josh Hill, PA-C
Josh Hill is a certified Physician Assistant who delivers patient care in the cardiology clinic and interventional suite. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Valdosta State College in Valdosta, Georgia, and a second Bachelor of Science degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. He joined HMH in 2016 and supports the cardiology team with diagnostics, care coordination, and procedure preparation.

Augustina McDowell, A.P.R.N.
Augustina McDowell is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with specialized experience in adult cardiovascular medicine. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2009, Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013, and Master of Science in Nursing in 2016, all from Indiana Wesleyan University. She joined HMH Cardiology Services in 2022 and focuses on patient evaluation, cardiac testing, and long-term disease management.

Brian McDowell, PA-C
Brian McDowell is a certified Physician Assistant with over 20 years of healthcare experience, including nine years in cardiovascular disease management. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 2007 and a Master of Science degree from the University of Kentucky in 2014. He joined HMH Cardiology Services in 2023.
