What Is a Registered Dietitian?

A Registered Dietitian (RD) is a licensed nutrition professional with specialized training in the prevention and treatment of disease through nutrition. To earn the RD credential, individuals must complete:

  • An accredited four-year nutrition degree
  • 900 hours of supervised practice
  • A national registration examination
