Exercise Oncology Program

Promoting Healing, Strength, and Support for Cancer Patients and Survivors

Harrison Memorial Hospital offers a comprehensive approach to cancer rehabilitation through our Oncology Exercise Program and a free weekly Exercise Oncology Class. Both are designed to improve the health and well-being of individuals undergoing cancer treatment or in post-treatment recovery, with a focus on movement, strength, and personal empowerment.

Oncology Exercise Program

The Oncology Exercise Program at HMH provides supervised, individualized exercise sessions tailored for cancer patients and survivors. The program is designed to aid recovery, improve general fitness, and help patients manage the side effects of treatment. Exercises are guided by trained professionals to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Benefits of participating in the program include:

  • Improved cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength
  • Reduced fatigue, pain, and nausea
  • Increased ability to perform daily activities
  • Enhanced mood, reduced anxiety and depression
  • Improved balance and decreased fall risk
  • Maintenance of bone and heart health
  • Reduced risk of muscle loss and blood clots
  • Improved quality of life and independence

This program also helps ensure that patients’ medications and physical conditions are considered during exercise planning.
