Harrison County EMS Receives State and National Recognition for Excellence in Patient Care

Harrison County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), part of Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH), has been recognized at both the state and national levels for its commitment to delivering high-quality care.

Harrison County EMS has received the 2026 Award of Excellence in Pediatric Emergency Care through the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS) Pediatric Recognition Program. This distinction recognizes EMS agencies that go above and beyond minimum requirements to ensure they are prepared to provide high-quality emergency care to children. The program, supported by Kentucky EMS for Children (KYEMSC), highlights agencies that meet national benchmarks and demonstrate readiness to care for pediatric patients when it matters most.

In addition, Harrison County EMS has been awarded the 2026 Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. This national recognition honors EMS agencies that demonstrate a strong commitment to timely, evidence-based care for patients experiencing heart attacks, strokes, and cardiac arrest. The Mission: Lifeline EMS program focuses on improving patient outcomes by ensuring coordinated, efficient systems of care across the healthcare continuum.

“At Harrison Memorial Hospital, we are proud of the exceptional care our EMS team provides every day,” said Kathy Tussey, Chief Executive Officer of Harrison Memorial Hospital. “These recognitions reflect their dedication to clinical excellence, ongoing training, and their commitment to delivering the highest quality care to our community—especially for our most vulnerable patients.
