Harrison Memorial Hospital Now Offering Patients a New Heart Failure Monitoring Solution

Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) is now offering a new procedure to patients who have congestive heart failure. The procedure involves a miniaturized, wireless monitoring sensor to manage heart failure (HF). The CardioMEMS HF System is the first and only FDA-approved heart failure monitoring device that has been proven to significantly reduce hospital admissions when used by physicians to manage heart failure.

Hospital earns Trauma IV Center designation

At HMH, we continually evaluate and improve our services to ensure the residents in our service area have access to vital medical services close to home. To add to the list of services continually upgraded to benefit patients, Harrison Memorial Hospital has been officially designated a Level IV Trauma Center by the Kentucky Trauma System. This designation also has been verified by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

HMH now offers KidTown Preschool on campus

 Harrison Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the opening of KidTown Preschool on the Harrison Memorial Hospital campus beginning August 8, 2016. Our preschool will serve children ages 3, 4 and 5. However, currently, we have limited openings available for children ages 4 and 5 only. Our experienced educators will provide a safe, kid-friendly environment, where we’ll teach your little one the joy of learning. 

Low-dose lung cancer screening program now offered

Harrison Memorial Hospital now offers low-dose CT scans that help doctors detect lung cancer before symptoms occur. This low-dose CT scan has been proven to save lives by discovering lung cancer in its earliest stages.

“According to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, it is estimated that screening could save 20,000 lives a year,” says Sheila Currans, HMH Chief Executive Officer. “By offering this program, we hope to be able to save more lives in our community.”

Hospital expansion project well underway; positively impacts patients

Over the past year, we have communicated the hospital’s plan for a multi-million dollar expansion/renovation project designed to enhance the patient experience, while still allowing flexibility for future growth. Today, the project is in full swing, with our patients already benefiting from many of the planned changes.
