The James A. and Martha R. Brown Foundation Donates Funds to Purhcase AutoPulse Devices to Harrison County EMS and HMH
The James A. and Martha R. Brown Foundation has generously donated the funds necessary to purchase the AutoPulse Resuscitation Systems to Harrison County EMS and Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH). These advanced devices will be utilized by Harrison County EMS, the HMH Emergency Department, and the HMH Catheterization Lab to enhance lifesaving capabilities in cardiac arrest emergencies.
The AutoPulse Resuscitation System is a revolutionary mechanical CPR device designed to improve patient outcomes in cardiac arrest situations. Unlike manual CPR, which can vary in consistency and effectiveness, the AutoPulse provides precise, uninterrupted chest compressions that maximize circulation to the brain and heart. Its lightweight and portable design allows first responders and healthcare providers to continue effective compressions during patient movement, such as transport to the hospital or within hospital departments.
“This donation provides us with a valuable tool to improve patient outcomes in critical situations,” said Shane Bussell, Director of Harrison County EMS. “The AutoPulse allows our team to perform high-quality compressions more effectively, even during transport, ensuring our patients receive the best care possible.”
Kathy Tussey, Chief Executive Officer of Harrison Memorial Hospital, added, “The generosity of the James A. and Martha R. Brown Foundation has a profound impact on our ability to deliver exceptional care. These devices are not just tools; they are lifesaving innovations that will benefit our entire community.”
For several years, Mr. and Mrs. Brown were integral part of the community with the ownership of Brown’s Ambulance Service and nursing or personal care homes. In addition, Mr. Brown was a member of the Harrison Memorial Hospital Board of Directors for 20 years. During his time on the HMH Board of Directors, Mr. Brown served as Chairman from 1997 until 1999 and as finance chair for ten years.
Through their namesake Foundation, their legacy of generosity and dedication to the well-being of Harrison County continues to make a meaningful difference. Their contributions have provided essential resources for local organizations and helped enhance healthcare services for countless residents.
Harrison County EMS and HMH express their deepest gratitude to the James A. and Martha R. Brown Foundation for this impactful donation. The addition of the AutoPulse devices will undoubtedly save lives and contribute to the overall health and safety of the region.
