Harrison Memorial Hospital Launches Care-A-Van Transport Services to Enhance Community Access to Healthcare

Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) is excited to announce the launch of its Care-A-Van Transport Services, designed to provide free transportation for Harrison County residents to and from HMH healthcare appointments. The service operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering an accessible solution for patients needing a reliable ride for their medical needs.

“Our mission at Harrison Memorial Hospital is to provide exceptional healthcare and ensure access for all members of our community,” said Kathy Tussey, HMH Chief Executive Officer. “The Care-A-Van Transport Service reflects our commitment to removing barriers to care and supporting the well-being of our patients.”

Shane Bussell, Director of Harrison County EMS and Transportation Services, said, “We are proud to offer this service to our community. Care-A-Van is more than just transportation; it’s about ensuring that our patients have the support they need to maintain their health and well-being. This program is an example of HMH’s dedication to meeting the needs of our neighbors.”

Eligibility for this service includes Harrison County residents who are fully ambulatory and able to enter and exit the van without assistance from the driver. Transportation is exclusively for appointments at HMH facilities, including physician offices, primary care offices, specialty clinics, and outpatient services. Scheduling is available Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with appointments requested, if possible, at least 72 hours in advance.

To schedule a ride, patients can call (859) 298-2700. HMH invites the community to take advantage of this free service to ensure timely and convenient access to healthcare.

Please note: If you have an emergency, call 911 immediately for the HC EMS (ambulance) service.
