Harrison Memorial Hospital Announces Partnership with Thoroughbred Emergency Physicians

Harrison Memorial Hospital announces its new partnership with Thoroughbred Emergency Physicians, an Emergency Medicine group serving the surrounding counties employing all Emergency Medicine residency-trained doctors. 

Under this partnership, J. Daniel Moore, MD, MBA, FACEP and Wesley Barnett, MD, both physicians and co-owners of Thoroughbred Emergency Physicians, will join Harrison Memorial Hospital’s medical staff as the physician leaders of the Emergency Department.

Dr. Moore earned his bachelor of science degree in Biology from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, and subsequently obtained his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Birmingham, AL. He also obtained his physician executive MBA from the University of Tennessee and is a fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Moore has roots in Cynthiana with his grandfather being from the area. 

Dr. Moore previously served as a Medical Director in the Emergency Medicine Department at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. He is recognized as a national leader in the field of emergency medicine in quality, safety, and communicable diseases. 
 
A native of Cynthiana, Dr. Wesley Barnett, is a graduate of Harrison County High School. He obtained his bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Pikeville, Pikeville, KY. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Lexington, KY. Dr. Barnett completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at UK Chandler Medical Center. Like Dr. Moore, he is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Barnett will be the medical director of the Emergency Services at HMH. 

“Dr. Moore and I are excited to begin the partnership with Thoroughbred Emergency Physicians and HMH,” says Dr. Wesley Barnett, HMH medical director of Emergency Services. “It was my goal to return home to serve the people in the communities of Harrison and its surrounding counties. And, with the partnership with Dr. Moore that goal will now be obtained.”

The Thoroughbred Emergency Physicians will have other full-time physicians will be Amber Brooks, DO, Josiah Burrows, MD and Ross Wanner, MD. In addition, the group will be adding Riley Cutler, MD and Mikalah Ward, MD to start full-time in July 2024.

Dr. Moore and Dr. Barnett will assume crucial roles in overseeing the operations and care provided in the HMH Emergency Department. Their expertise and dedication to emergency medicine will continue to provide high-quality care to the community.
