HMH Primary Care Main earns National Recognition as Rural Health Clinic
Harrison Memorial Hospital is very pleased to announce that HMH Primary Care Main and HMH Primary Care Main Women’s Health have recently been awarded official accreditation as a Rural Health Clinic.
Rural Health Clinics are a special certification given to healthcare practices in underserved rural areas by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). More than 4,600 Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) in 45 states make up a key part of the rural healthcare infrastructure and help address health equity gaps in medically underserved rural communities to improve health outcomes for residents.
The Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) staff worked successfully to pass a rigorous onsite survey dealing with patient services, infection control and diagnostic testing. The rural health clinic accreditation is valid for a three-year period.
As a rural health clinic, the practice will have a special emphasis on health maintenance, preventive screening, a broad array of medical services, patient experience reporting, and benchmarking.
“The Rural Health Clinic approach emphasizes the importance of improving patient care and outcomes in the primary care area, which also includes behavioral health and women’s health,” said Dr. Stephen Toadvine, HMH Chief Executive Officer. “I am proud of the staff and its diligence in obtaining the accreditation. This accreditation demonstrates the dedication of our staff to provide high-quality care to the communities we serve.”
