HMH Radiology Receives ACR Accreditation in Mammography Services

Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in 3-D Mammography Services by the American College of Radiology (ACR), following a recent peer-reviewed evaluation. This accreditation applies to the hospital’s FUJIFILM ASPIRE Cristalle with digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) mammography system, a leading-edge technology designed to enhance image quality and improve workflow.

HMH has maintained ACR accreditation in mammography since 1998, with re-accreditation occurring every three years to ensure continued excellence in patient care and imaging services.

The ACR Gold Seal of Accreditation is the highest level of recognition for image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities that meet ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards, as determined by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists. Evaluation criteria include image quality, personnel qualifications, equipment adequacy, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs. The comprehensive report provided by the ACR Committee on Accreditation is used by facilities to drive continuous improvement.
The American College of Radiology, founded in 1924, is a national organization representing more than 37,000 radiology professionals. The ACR is dedicated to advancing the practice and science of radiological care through education, accreditation, and research initiatives.
HMH installed its FUJIFILM ASPIRE Cristalle with DBT system in 2022, offering patients advanced 3-D breast imaging that improves the detection of abnormalities and supports early diagnosis.

According to the National Cancer Institute, approximately 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime. Early detection significantly increases survival rates. Routine screening mammograms are recommended starting at age 40, or earlier for those with a family history of breast cancer. To schedule a mammogram at HMH, call (859) 235-3600.
The HMH Radiology Department offers a comprehensive range of imaging services for both adults and pediatric patients. The department is staffed by highly trained and licensed radiology technologists and experienced radiologists who provide accurate imaging and timely diagnoses.
