Several new providers added to medical staff
Harrison Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of the following new providers to our staff, ensuring we provide the best possible care to our patients.
John Chaney, M.D., joins our medical staff, specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. Chaney, a native of Paducah, KY, earned his Bachelor of Science degree and his medical degree from University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. He completed a residency in general surgery from Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at University of Louisville Medical Center.
He performs surgery on patients with cardiovascular diseases. He also performs carotid endartectomies, endovascular aortic aneurysm repairs, angioplasty and stents or bypasses of the lower extremities. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Chaney will see patients in Cynthiana on the second and fourth Friday of each month at the HMH Specialty Clinic from 8:00-11:30 a.m. For an appointment, call (859) 277-7129.
Family Care Associates is pleased to announce the addition of two Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). Tara Ramsey Applegate, APRN, and Dana Wyatt, APRN, have joined Dr. Greg Cooper, Dr. Henry Norfleet and Dr. Brian Mulberry’s practice.
Applegate, a native of Brooksville, KY, graduated from Bracken County High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Keiser University and completed her master’s degree in nursing from Marysville University. She is a former instructor for the nursing program at MCTC in Maysville, KY and also worked in critical care, transplant and pediatric nursing at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center prior to teaching.
Wyatt, a native of Falmouth, KY, received her associate’s degree in nursing from Gateway Community and Technical College, Edgewood, KY. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Western Governors University, Salt Lake City, UT and her master’s degree in nursing from University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH. Wyatt has worked as a charge and staff nurse for the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, as well as a staff member of the medical/surgical unit at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Maria Pavez and Dr. Jalil Shojaei have opened a neurology clinic in the HMH Specialty Clinic. Dr. Pavez is board certified in neurology and sleep medicine and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree and her medical degree from Cayetano Heredia University, Lima, Peru. Dr. Pavez also has provided a sleep disorders clinic at HMH for the last four years.
Dr. Shojaei earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. He earned his medical degree from Spartan Health Sciences University, West Indies. Dr. Shojaei completed an internship at Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland, PA and his residency at Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann Department of Neurology, Philadelphia, PA.
