Harrison Memorial Hospital Receives 2017 Press Ganey Pinnacle of Excellence and Guardian of Excellence Award for

Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) is pleased to announce that it has been honored with the 2017 Pinnacle of Excellence Award and 2017 Guardian of Excellence Award® by Press Ganey. The Pinnacle of Excellence and Guardian of Excellence are nationally-recognized awards for top-performing healthcare organizations.

The Pinnacle of Excellence award is given annually to the top performing organizations on the basis of extraordinary achievement. This award recognizes hospitals that have maintained consistently high levels of excellence in patient experience, engagement or clinical quality performance over time.  This award recognizes the top three performers in each category and HMH was honored for clinical quality.

HMH is one of only three hospitals in the United States to receive the recognition for sustained clinical quality. This award recognizes a consistent top performer from each organization size category using two years of data from 2015 to 2016. There are 26 active and representative clinical measures from the emergency department, outpatient services, pregnancy and related conditions, stroke, tobacco, and venous thromboembolism measure sets used to calculate eight quarterly composite scores for each client.

The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally-recognized symbol of achievement in health care. HMH is one of only fourteen healthcare organizations hospitals in the United States to receive the recognition for clinical quality measurements.

Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year. The Guardian of Excellence Award honors top facilities for patient experience, employee engagement or clinical quality. HMH was honored with the award for clinical quality.

The clinical quality award is based on clinical measures from the heart failure, immunization, pneumonia, postnatal care, surgical infection prevention, stroke and venous thromboembolism measure sets from 2015. Clients are recognized for performing in the 95th percentile on the overall composite for a minimum of ten cases for at least five of the measures listed above. The measures are set by federal government and The Joint Commission.

“These awards represent an important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring, understanding and improving the patient experience,” says Sheila Currans, HMH Chief Executive Officer. “It validates the practices and programs that we have in place to ensure high quality care for the patient.  I am especially proud of the “Pinnacle” recognition since it represents a sustaining commitment to  the quality of care provided to those we serve.”

More than 5,000 healthcare facilities were eligible for these awards. The awards were presented to HMH at the 2017 Press Ganey Conference in Orlando, Florida on November 1.
