Dave Mellett retires from HMH
On August 28, Dave Mellett, HMH Chief Financial Officer, will retire after more than seven years of service at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Mellett began his career at HMH in January 2014. Prior to joining HMH, Mellett was the CFO with Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa.
“For the last 30 years, I have worked in healthcare finance throughout the South and MidWest. When I came to HMH, I hoped this would be my final position before retiring,” he said.
During his tenure, Mellett helped to establish a strong financial performance at HMH, allowing the hospital to execute numerous construction and renovation projects, implement a state-of-the-art electronic medical record system, acquire state-of-the-art technology and provide millions in charity care and community benefits.
Those projects included the new Medical/Surgical Department, Urgent Treatment Center and Specialty Clinic Building Project in 2016, Meditech Electronic Records 6.15 Update in 2018, The Cottages at Flat Run Project in 2020, and the new KidTown Building in 2021.
Mellett also managed the Finance, Registration, Billing Centralized Scheduling, Materials Management and Health Information Departments.
When asked what he will miss the most about HMH his response was, “My co-workers! When I joined HMH, I became instantly a member of a family.”
Mellett plans to stay in Cynthiana and be active in the community. “Since coming to Cynthiana, I have made wonderful friends and become a part of the community,” he said.
He plans to continue volunteering with the Cynthiana Lions Club and the HMH Auxiliary, working on his golf game, traveling to each baseball park and of course following college sports especially The Ohio State Buckeyes, Iowa State Cyclones and the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
“On behalf of our board of directors and all the staff at HMH, I want to thank Dave for his exceptional contributions throughout his career here,” said Dr. Stephen Toadvine, HMH Chief Executive Officer. “Dave has truly been a beloved member of the HMH family. He has been a great leader, and he has created tremendous value for our hospital. In his years as CFO, Dave’s guidance has been especially critical as he helped position HMH for the future. I wish Dave nothing but the best in the next chapter of his life."
