Harrison Memorial Hospital Nationally Recognized with An ‘A’ For the Spring 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) earned an ‘A’ in Spring 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a , a national distinction recognizing HMH’s achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. HMH is one of 14 hospitals in Kentucky to receive an A grade.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization driven by employers and other purchasers of health care committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, B’, C’, D’ or ‘F’ grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“HMH is proud to have earned an A grade for patient safety for two consecutive terms—Fall 2024 and Spring 2025,” says Kathy Tussey, HMH Chief Executive Officer. “This recognition reinforces the trust our patients place in us and highlights our relentless focus on creating a safe, high-quality environment for care. The recognition would not be possible without the staff and providers staying focused on quality, safe patient care.”

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to Harrison Memorial Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
