About Elizabeth Bailey
In 2006, Harrison Memorial Board of Directors designated the new Center to be named the Elizabeth Bailey Women’s Health Center. In 1950, the hospital board sent Dr. Henry Moody to ask registered nurse Elizabeth Bailey to fill in as administrator until a permanent administrator could be named. Mrs. Bailey must have done an outstanding job, as that temporary position turned into 30 years of dedicated service as HMH’s fifth administrator.
During Mrs. Bailey’s term as administrator, land was purchased and a new building was completed and dedicated in 1968. A new wing was added to house laboratory, physical therapy and medical records in 1979. And, HMH received its first accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations in 1973. In 2006, Harrison Memorial Board of Directors designated the new Center to be named the Elizabeth Bailey Women’s Health Center.
