Shaundra Call, APRN, Joins HMH Behavioral Health Team

Harrison Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Shaundra Call, APRN, to its Behavioral Health Services team. She joins Cathy Messinger, APRN, and Alyssa Mayo, APRN, in providing behavioral health services to both pediatric and adult patients.

A native of Cynthiana, Call earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Maysville Community and Technical College in Maysville, KY. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing—completing both Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner programs—at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Call brings a diverse background in healthcare, having served as a family nurse practitioner with Recovery Works since December 2020. She has also worked on the adult behavioral health unit at Stoner Creek since April 2017. In addition, she has been with Harrison Memorial Hospital since February 2015, serving in a variety of clinical roles including Medical-Surgical, ICU, Emergency Room, and as House Supervisor.

An APRN is a registered nurse who has completed an advanced graduate-level education program and has passed a national certification examination in order to practice in one of four APRN roles (clinical nurse specialist, nurse midwife, nurse practitioner and registered nurse anesthetist).

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Call has advanced training to diagnose and treat patients in regard to behavioral health conditions.

The HMH Behavioral outpatient clinic offers:

· Initial mental status and behavioral health assessment

· Individual and family psychotherapy, which includes education and treatment

· Medication management

· Referral for counseling for adults and children

· Assess the need and arrange for inpatient treatment.

She specializes in both adult and pediatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ADHD, behavioral disorders and other mental health illnesses.
