Speech Therapy

A vital component of the HMH Rehabilitation Department is speech therapy. Speech therapy is the treatment of speech defects and disorders, especially through use of exercises and audio-visual aids that develop new speech habits. HMH’s speech therapy program is located in the Rehabilitation Department on the ground level of the hospital. The program treats both adult and pediatric patients. Areas of treatment include: dysphagia; aphasia/traumatic brain injury; voice; language; articulation/phonology and stuttering.

Speech pathologist Lisa Livingood is a native of Paris, KY. She earned a bachelor’s of science degree in communication disorders from Eastern Kentucky University. She then earned a master’s degree of art in education and her Rank 1 certification from EKU. Prior to joining HMH, Livingood was a speech pathologist for the First Steps Program with KPI Therapy Services. She was also employed as a speech pathologist for Clark County school system.
